This is a great opportunity to configure a new budget PC build and still get great performance. this AMD Ryzen Deals Not only does that get you a decent six-core gaming CPU for a discounted price of $224, but you also get a 1TB Kingston PCIe 4.0 SSD, which means you can upgrade the storage at the same time.
As we found in our Ryzen 5 7600X review , the chip offers great performance, but at the time we criticized its $299 MSRP for being too expensive. However, the price has since dropped, this AMD chip has earned a spot in our guide to the best gaming CPUs, and now it’s even cheaper. At current prices, you’re saving 25% on the MSRP, and that’s not even taking into account the free SSD in the Newegg deal.
The Ryzen 5 7600X is a great base for building a budget gaming PC. It’s faster in games than budget Intel options (like the Core i5 13400F), and while it doesn’t have the chip’s 3D V-cache (like the new 9800X3D), it’s significantly cheaper. Unlike some of AMD’s cheaper CPUs, this chip has 32MB of L3 cache instead of just 16MB, which helps improve gaming performance, and its top boost clock is 5.3GHz. In most cases, six cores are enough for gaming.
The chip has since been replaced by the newer Ryzen 5 9600X, which has a slightly higher clock speed of 5.4GHz and a boost from the new Zen 5 architecture. The new CPU is also reasonably priced right now, at just $233.99 in the 9600X deal, which is worth considering if you want the latest technology, although the deal doesn’t come with a free SSD.
Having said that, the drive you get in this deal is worth every penny, and it’s not an aging PCIe 3.0 drive either. Kingston NV3 uses a 4x PCIe 4.0 interface with sequential read speeds of up to 6,000MB/s and write speeds of up to 5,000MB/s. That’s fast enough for most people’s needs, and much faster than any PCIe 3.0 drive. Happily, the free drive comes in 1TB capacity, giving you plenty of space to install a few games on your system.
